She is a young actor who has landed the lead part in a TV-series. He has just finished his training in Paris as a specialist for plastic surgery and is about to take a position at one of the city’s best hospitals. They both come from privileged families, their futures look bright. And then, over the course of two years, they lose it all – just like countless others who have to leave their homes for political reasons. Based on extensive research, Olga Grjasnowa tells the fictitious yet true story of Amal and Hammoudi at the beginning of the civil war in Syria in 2011. She has created a stage adaption of her novel especially for Berliner Ensemble.
