Digital guest performances

The Berliner Ensemble as a guest at online festivals

Last year, the Berliner Ensemble was invited to a number of guest performances around the world. Unfortunately, however, most of these tours could not take place due to the Coronavirus. Many of the festivals were held online instead: the Berliner Ensemble was for example a digital guest at the Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre in Georgia with "The Tin Drum" by Günter Grass. In addition, we were also invited to the International Theatre Festival "Santiago a Mil" in Chile from the Fundación Teatro a Mil and showed a recording of Brecht's "The Caucasian Chalk Circle".

Lessingtage 2021 Digital: "Stories from Europe"

The Thalia Theater in Hamburg and the Royal Dramatic Theatre Dramaten in Stockholm are both members of mitos21, a network which unites some Europe's most influential theatres including the Berliner Ensemble. Together, as part of the Lessingtage 2021, both theatres have invited their partners to present selected Performances online, giving German and international audiences the opportunity to experience a digital panorama of European theatre: heterogeneous and diverse in terms of content and aesthetics, driven by curiosity about the diversity of Europe.

The Berliner Ensemble will show Bertolt Brecht's "The Caucasian Chalk Circle" staged by Michael Thalheimer on January 24, starting at 7 p.m., as part of Lessingtage 2021.

#digitalbrecht: Brechtfestival Augsburg

This year, the Brecht Festival in Augsburg is producing live streams, short films, music videos, concerts and staged readings under the hashtag #digitalbrecht, which can be experienced exclusively online from February 26 to March 7. BE actress Stefanie Reinsperger is also taking part, and will be producing a feature on "Brecht and women" with Akin Isletme entitled "Ich bin ein Dreck".
