Robert Schuster is the founder of the transnational Kula Compagnie, a free theater ensemble with international actors. From 1999-02 he was part of the co-direction of Frankfurt's Theater am Turm. Since then he has directed numerous opera and drama productions in Basel, Bremen, Freiburg, Leipzig, Munich at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and Schauspiel Frankfurt. Since 2004, Schuster has been a professor of directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. In addition, he has held teaching positions at universities in Tel Aviv, Strasbourg, Shanghai and Copenhagen. Robert Schuster is a member of the German Academy of Performing Arts.
