Stef Lernous

Stef Lernous (*1973) is a Belgian director and author. He began his career as an actor for various productions in the Flemish theater scene. In 1999 he founded his own theater ensemble Abattoir Fermé together with his colleagues Nick Kaldunski and Tine Van den Wyngaert. Lernous' works show influences from the baroque, horror iconography and pop culture. They reflect his fascination for rituals, the human being and his body and phenomena beyond the mainstream. He has directed more than 70 productions, including operas, short films, children's plays and TV series. He teaches at the acting department of the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema & Sound in Brussels and writes regularly for various theater magazines. 
In the 2019/20 season, Stef Lernous will work with "Ubu Rex" for the first time at the Berliner Ensemble.
