Willy Loman is a self-made man! Some decades ago now, he was one of the hardest working men in his field. He was successful. Unfortunately, business has fallen off and while the bills are piling up, the times are changing – and only Willy won't.

Pinneberg and Lämmchen are young parents who cling to their love and their faith in civic morality – despite their poverty, unemployment and social hardships. Their struggle for a last shred of dignity ends in the Moloch of Berlin.

It is the night before the opening. The dress rehearsal of "Noises Off" is in full swing. Nothing works; the actors don't know their lines and the plates of sardines are always in the wrong place.

Liliom, a carousel barker at the funfair known all over town, meets Julie, a servant girl and his fateful love, while working on the carousel. Together, they risk their jobs out of longing for a life without exploitation.
