Lukas Nowak

Lukas Nowak is a dramaturg of the Berliner Ensemble since the season 2025/26 and currently the head of WORX, the international programme for young directors (in parental leave). Born and raised in Erfurt, he studied philosophy and sociology at the University of Potsdam and dramaturgy at the Ernst Busch University of Theatre Arts in Berlin. During his studies, he worked in public relations at the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary History in Potsdam, in the online editorial team at the Academy of Arts (AdK) in Berlin, and as an assistant dramaturg at the Berliner Ensemble since the season 2022/23. He worked with directors such as Oliver Reese, Max Lindemann and Marie Schwesinger, devised special events like scenic readings and curated various discussion events – for example, on the connection between democracy and artificial intelligence, on the concept of resistance and on the current relevance of the theory of Bertolt Brecht.
