“I want to live. I want to live vividly and make huge, spectacular, heroic mistakes.”
Emma, an actor, is at the centre of this play. Addicted to drugs and alcohol, she has committed herself to a rehab clinic. She wants to learn how to reorganise the world around her and to endure life without intoxication. We accompany Emma on her escape from a world she finds unbearable into intoxication and the worlds inside her head, a crass contrast to reality. Emma is at odds with this reality and confronts it with her own outspoken view of things. Duncan Macmillan carries the audience off in a slipstream of hallucinatory images – a fast-paced trip through fantastical worlds of delusion.
